Morph dissolve ? Can anyone explain the technique.

A lot of movies and music videos use this effect where from and extreme long shot the camera comes to a quick close up. And all you see is a quick blur. Morph Dissolve I believe what this is called. Can someone shed some expert light on the subject as to how this is done and in which software.

Is there a specific video or movie that uses this effect? I think I know what your talking about, but I want to be sure. Have you checked out Boris FX? I know they have some unique FX that after effects doesn't have.

It's normally a common all garden morph over, say, 12 frames between a long shot and a closer shot.

So any morphing software should be able to do it, such as elastic reality.

oh, and it should work better where there is forward motion by the camera, either real or cheated (ie software zoom) in both bits of footage

the whole reason the technique works is cos it's so fast. you could probably cheat it with a software zoom and cross-dissolve as an approximation.

This effect is used in Bon Jovi's video "Its my life" and also in a video by Fat Boy Slim and in a Ricky Martin's video as well. In a movie it is used in The Bone Collector in which the camera zooms out of a car, then a street, then through an extreme long shot through skyscrapers and ends up inside a room. Get the picture?

Got it. Try the program "morph". I tried the morph dissolve and it works great, although the quality of the shots of Bone Collector are much better than mine.
